My brother-in-law passed away and I got his tools .In this chest of tools is a set of Jap made wrenches, but they say SEARS Across them .At one time were these the earlier version of Craftsman??

Sears (store) sells a lesser quality of tool that says Sears (name) rather than Craftsman. These are cheap tools with NO warranty. Oftentimes they sell because wives, mothers, etc... don't know the difference and think if its from Sears (store) it is the quality brand that he wants...

I am thinking Sears started that line in the late 70's. They were trying to get out of the lifetime warranty business. Fortunately, they failed, and Craftsman survived.
