I'm curious. Does anyone have a set of Chevrolet tools that are shown after each section in the Advanced Design shop manuals? That would be a nice luxury.

most of the tools i've seen are rare---and pricey. they are, however a great addition to a restore job. i personally don't know where any 40's-50's tools are. i think i can get my hands on a complete set of hand tools and factory grease gun for a 38 chevy. with thew coming of summer, swap meets and yard sales i will keep my eye open. i have in the past found some pretty neat old tools, but have always swapped them or sold them off. think since i'm more involved with the bolt page i'll offer them to bolters first. there's a thought---for those of us who have those little items we don't want or need sitting around gathering dust---use the classifieds. helps the guy who needs it--and helps the guy who can always use alittle cash (all of us). most guys i know only advertise big stuff---but it's those little trinkets that are worth gold to some.

were manufactured by Kent-Moore
for Chevrolet mechanics and Chevrolet
garages.
Go to e-bay and search under Kent-Moore
and they pop up regularly
they all have a number stamped on them that matches the shop manual number.
they will be advertised by that number on e-bay

I think in most instances their is a "different" way to remove the parts w/out needing the tools. I have not been to many garages that have the "special" tools unless used a whole lot.
I want one of those special shift-lever remover tools for the 4-spds real bad. You can get it off with other methods, just that it is neater, quicker. Was one on ebay that I was bidding on and dang thing went for $42, I quit at $30 and that was reaching for me. I see other tools listedd on there. use the KM name and tools in your search and include bunch of years to search for too. KM is Kent-Moore and they made most of the old tools for GM. They didn't have the trans tool new, I emailed them on one. Lots of times Snap-on or other tool company's have a substitute tool or similar for same job. Save your money, there's always a different way!

I was more curious than in the market for them. I know there's more than one way to skin a cat. But to have a tool with just the right diameter, depth, span, etc. would be neat. (I have ground down the old bearing race to help tap in the new one without scratching.)
