Hello Fellow Bolters,
Does anyone know where I can get a new pair of oil filter lines for my 62 261 with the fat oil filter lines? Or, do I just need to take the old ones into Napa and have new ones fabricated?
Thanks Much!
Bobby

Nope- - - - -those are the small diameter lines for the bypass filter. Any hydraulic shop, and most professional-level parts stores like NAPA can duplicate the 1/2" diameter flex lines. I like "single braid" hydraulic lines- - - -they're rated for 3K PSI, which might be overkill, but they will last about 3 days past forever. I'd suggest using a 6" hard pipe nipple threaded into the block ports to space the flex lines away from the exhaust pipe.

Are they just pipe thread ends? My local Rural King stocks hydraulic hoses made up already. Not sure if any are short enough.

I used JIC AN fittings and 1/2 braided line. Don't cheap out on the AN fittings. The cheap one leak. As long as you have a hacksaw and some electrical tape you can make up your own.

An abrasive chop saw or an angle grinder with a thin cutoff disc works much better than a hacksaw for making a clean cut on that wire-braided hose.

Thanks, Dan.

LTC, having them made locally is probably the best option. I once had a similar hose with crimped on threaded fittings on each end made for my Cadillac. I took it to a hydraulic shop that worked on tractor trailers and heavy equipment.

The guys were tickled pink to "custom make" a 12" hose for a 65 year old Cadillac (I drove to the place in it). They made the hose in a few minutes and didn't want to charge me for it. It was their pleasure, they said, to help keep a car like that on the road.
