There are two places for vacuum on my Monojet. One on the carb base points towards the oil filter of my 261. A second is higher on the carb body and points towards the valve cover.
Should I connect the vacuum advance tubing to the lower one which points forward? What do you do with the second one? Was that hooked to an automatic choke which someone has removed?
Thanks!! 1948 3/4-Ton 5-Window Flatbed Chevrolet 34 Years. Now with a '61 261, 848 head, Rochester Monojet carb, SM420 4-speed, 4.10 rear, dual reservoir MC, Bendix up front, 235/85R16 tires, 12-volt w/alternator, electric wipers and a modern radio in the glove box.

#15617 02/02/2004 10:24 PM | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | I have hooked the vacuum advance to both places with the engine running and it didn't make any difference. I do not want to offend anyone, but my advice regarding a monojet is the same advice my father have me a few months ago: Throw it away, and buy a carburetor! I'm on my second monojet. This one is a new remanufactured, and it doesn't work any better than the old one. I simple aquired a different set of problems. I am switching over to a Holley-Weber 5200. You can get the details of this project under the post that says "I'm Gonna Try this ...." Bob | | |
