C-H compressors are very light duty. Don't be fooled by these high HP claims. Those are peak numbers and are not the same as the old way of figuring it. These things are a waste of your money. You can buy a decent home size compressor for about $700 that will operate your tools and spray gun. I've had two, one threw a rod and had to replace to replace the head on the other. Very light weight piece of crap.

I got that same compressor - been using it on my truck and to paint various motorcycle bits. I have used it with hi torque impact wrenches, hand grinders, needle scalers, air hammers, air nibblers, HVLP paint guns (the whole truck - many bikes), airing up big tires, and even a HF sandblaster - but the sand blaster uses just a big hose and a ball valve to make it go. The sand blaster is the only thing that made me have to stop occasionally to let the compressor catch up.

Its marked extreme duty, has a 3 year warranty, and has a big cast iron 2 piston pump on it. I change the oil once a year and when I use it, it's used a lot, and when it sits, it sits for weeks.

Mine has worked very well and I paid that same 389 for it 2 years ago. I can't complain and I have had very good service from mine.

Now, mebe some of their other products weren't so good, but mine was/is. Mebe it breaks tomorrow, but so far so good.

Yes, they are kinda lightweight. I bought one nearly 10 years ago, locked up after one year. I replaced the rod, emeried the crank & ran it overfull of oil for the next 9 years, never another problem! Left it at my old place so I don't know if its still runnin. Brian

That's about price/type I bought at Tractor Supply store or TSC in town. CH is one of better brands in my opinion for home use. It's not a commercial unit, for everyday, but fine at home. I use mine like fella said earlier, use alot one time, sets for weeks, and use daily in summer, just not long hours. My blaster cabinet keeps it running most time in use also. It catches up when I take the parts out of cabinet to blow off and paint. They are one of few with iron pumps anymore, most have aluminum with sleeves and are noisier and wear faster. Oilless ones don't hold up in a serious home shop and are very noisy also. The freight on that will kill the savings unless you have a HF store nearby.

If you've got a Tractor Supply nearby, try looking at the 80 gal Ingersol Rand. It peaks at 135psi, but puts out 18.1 CFM at 90, which will run most anything. It's rated for a 24 hour duty cycle (more than all of us) and comes home for $699. They do 10% discounts for getting their credit card from time to time, getting you down to $630. Pretty hard to beat. It's also a fairly quiet unit.
