Are these considered solid or hydraulic lifters? I ask because these came out of my 1956 Chevrolet 261. I was under the impression that the 261 was a solid lifter engine.
I'm putting it all back together and want to make sure I use the correct valve lash clearance for initial start up.
Those are solid lifters. Hydraulics have a little piston inside and a spring. also there is an oil hole in the side of the lifter. I hope you kept these in order the way they came out of the engine.or numbered them. Otherwise you will have to have them resurfaced and preferably have the cam reground.

Thanks for the reply, these have an oil hole but no spring or piston. What is pictured is all there is. I did keep them in order and they went back in the same spot that they came out of.
