Since it was asked to point out any issues after the update, here are a couple.
After loading a new thread in the paint and body area, I got a message that this page isn't working. However when I went to active threads, my post is there.
Next I noticed that I wasn't automatically subscribed to my new post.
I also get the 'This page isn't working' when I replied to an existing post.

The "This page isn't working" is also happens to me when I used the "quote" button to reply to a post. When I close the window and re-enter the forum my post is actually there.

You should be able to fix HTTP error 500 "this page isn't working" by closing and relaunching your browser.

I'm getting the same message- - - - -occasionally, not with every post. Hitting the "back" arrow and the "refresh" button reveals that the post has actually been accepted. No big deal- - - -"refresh" or "reload" resolves the issue quickly.

Mine is a 12 year old Windows 10 desktop using up to date Chrome browser.

Gave this response when I posted this message:

This page isn’t working
www.stovebolt.com is currently unable to handle this request.

That's exactly what I got on the cell phone. I had to back up twice to get away from it. I went to Active Topics and I saw the post was there ... twice.

Each time I reply to a thread and hit return, the following message comes up.

=========

This page isn’t working

www.stovebolt.com is currently unable to handle this request.

HTTP ERROR 500

=========

If I hit update, it says " The page that you're looking for used information that you entered. Returning to that page might cause any action you took to be repeated. Do you want to continue?"
Sure enough, If I hit update, it duplicates my message. I instead open a new window and enter the website, go to the post and find my reply duplicated. I delete the duplicated reply.

Cheers
Craig

Starting this thread, I got the same HTTP ERROR 500 message.

That's true, and the developers are aware of it. The fix will be released when 8.01 is released in the near future.

"Fatal Error" message is back (or never went away). I can back up one page and hit "refresh" and my reply to a thread shows up normally. (including this post)

In our discussion in our Moderator Forum, Paul has asked:

I need to know precisely what error you see when you post a new thread or reply to a thread and you get the blank screen. That screen should now include php debugging. Please copy the entire message and post it here so I can pass that on to the UBB folks.

Maybe you all can help with this. The "entire message" as Paul asks, or even better yet, a screenshot if you are able to capture one. Only a few of us are getting these messages possibly because we don't post as much of the Stovebolt Collective. I only got it when I posted from my old cell phone, which is extremely rare.

Thanks.

Looks like someone turned on a debug switch somewhere. Instead of getting the "500" message I now get this:

I'm getting that message about half the time when I reply to a post. Going back one page to the reply I just wrote with the "back" arrow and hitting "refresh" clears the problem and my comment posts OK.

Seems like site traffic might be down a bit. Possibly folks are being scared off by the “expired certificate” thing.

I haven’t seen it on my phone or laptop since that one time yesterday. ohwell

One PM we got said: "It’s likely the website’s certificate is expired, which prevents Firefox from connecting securely. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details."

Not sure if that's part of it.

Last night and this morning on my cell phone, I kept getting an error saying the time and date was wrong and it wouldn't let me fix it OR get into the site. frown ohwell

Kevin, there were a bunch of folks on-line earlier this morning. Lots of guests even still.

The expired certificate is not related to the software update. I'm not sure what your arrangement with the hosting provider is, but my guess is that they are responsible for keeping the site's certificate valid. Certificate now expires in January.

That's a really ignorant warning message. The site is not less secure because the cert expired. Unfortunately, browsers can't distinguish between a fake cert and an expired one.

The cert was updated last night, and the site is fine. It was fine with an expired cert except for the annoying browser warnings.
