Good news is that the pressures aren't that much different. Start with around 4-5 psi on the acetylene and 12-15 psi on the Oxygen. If you are cutting, make sure you turn the Oxygen on full blast at the lower gas valve on the torch handle and control Oxygen flow with the upper mixing valve. When you press the cutting valve, that lets the full Oxy flow through the center orfices of the torch tip to blow the slag out of the way for a clean cut. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 587 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 587 | Get infor from shop/supplier where you get the gas tanks at. I use 5 to 7 lbs on Acet an 20 on Oxy when I just cut with it. Have to go less on Oxy for welding, haven't done much of that with it. I use mine mostly for "dissassembly" purposes!

They only get used when i break something on the plow trucks and just want to cut it off and keep goin.(that did not happen this year) | | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 198 Member | | Member Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 198 | yea, only dumb thing on my part is I got the disassembly almost done. all I got left to do (other then frame & drive train) is to pull the cab off the frame. I'm hoping to get the done today while I have company to help me get it off. | | | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | If young grasshopper were smart he would leave the cab on the frame till last. You should not do ANY bodywork to the cab unless it is mounted to a frame. You cant mount any engines trans or rearend without the cab on the frame. You cant figure out were the frontend belongs with out the cab and front fenders.Heck you cant even figure out were the floor boards need to be welded with out the cab on the frame. No sence in blastin and paintin the frame as you will just be grinding the paint off to build your hot rod anyway.So......you dont really take the cab off till its time to finish weld everything. Done it been there. Its last. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 198 Member | | Member Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 198 | yea, well I was planning on taking it off so I could sand blast everything and paint it. kinda sounds like a waist of time now.
I guess I've just had this great urge to see it all torn apart... LOL | | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 198 Member | | Member Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 198 | well guys I finally got my bottles refilled, a new hose, and one of the 4 gauges need replaced. I'm going to get this baby cranked up. I could have used it on the stovebolt, but I've been getting by without it. I need to be able to change my ring gear on my flywheel though.
do you guys remove the rivits with these, or is it easier to keep using my grinder, and air punch? I'm gonna cut the springs off my rear axle so I can remove it easier. the spring hangers off off etc. and just sitting under it, but it'll still be kinda hard to get out with the springs on. | | |
