I’ve been plugging away slowly at the truck for the last year and have racked up considerable hours, but I still haven’t added the additional hours to the total. They’re on the board in the shop. 🤪

I continue to finish wiring. I screwed up some little female terminals (molex I believe) and it took me a while to find exact replacements. I found them on digikey online for a great price. So now I can continue there as this screw up has left me hanging and wondering for quite a while.

So, in the meantime…

I took the seat in a couple weeks ago and had the upholsterer install a seat cover from LMC. I was going to attempt it myself, but for the time and effort it take it to a pro to install was well worth it. He added some new padding and batting, and it looks pretty sharp.

During that wait, I cleaned up the seat runners and painted them. Mixed and matched parts from the parts C20 truck seat and it turns out the seats/runners are slightly different. I was going to use the c20 undercuts, as the c10’s were broken. The spring steel cable that connects the two runner/sliders is different on the 70 vs 72 because the seat slider/runner angle as it bolts to the seat is different. I made it work though, as the original little springs for the lock tabs on the C10 were broken. So now the seat adjuster doesn’t work in the parts truck. 😂

I installed the column and hooked up the steering shaft to the power steering box and the column. Turns out the new rag joint I purchased through a vendor for these trucks, doesn’t actually fit the p.box spline. It is too big. So I mixed and matched pieces with the original rag joint.

I removed my catalytic converter (on the right side so far) as I had installed them during fabrication. Engine tuner recommended removing them. I will do the same on the left while I mock up the shift linkage from the column to the tranny. I also have to replace the trans cooler lines that are slightly too long for the application.

I’ve procrastinated updating this blog’s text, but feel good now that some things have been mentioned. Hopefully I can stay up on it. With family, work, sports, trucks, wrenching, chores and duties calling, it sure got put off to the side.

Seat in place, awaiting bolt down. The frame just clears the speakers behind the seat when slid back all the way.
