so i put a cheap $30 aftermarket fuel pump on my firetruck till i get original style core to rebuild. the internet says don't get 'em because they don't work outa the box + plus its gotta be hand primed full stroke before putting it on the engine. then chances are it ain't gonna work then either. (hair pulling starts here). i'm glad i changed many fuel pumps in my 75 years and NEVER look at instructions. this morning cleaning up i glanced at the instructions. these came with pumps from napa & oreilly's heres a photo of it. THOSE WHO KNOW... KNOW.
