The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline Front disk brake conversion for 1954-1955.1 3100 series

Since my front clip is off, decided to try to upgrade my bearings (already bought and received them last year) from the ball bearings to the tapered bearings. Also decided to switch out the brake shoes to disk while I have the clip off. However, looking at the prices for the kits ($400+) seem to be A WHOLE LOT MORE expensive than the rotors, calipers, braces, spacers and bolts would cost if bought separately. Already found out the master cylinder, brace and proportion valve is cheaper buying separate than their "kits". Does anyone know what years I would look for the above parts? BTW, the spindles are original, and is a six(6) lug (if that matters). Did I miss anything?

Any and all help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Kits almost always cost more than sourcing parts separately. You're paying for convenience and not always getting the best quality parts that you might get if you chose the parts yourself from your preferred suppliers.

Never mind. Went ahead and bought the kit from Brothers (Holley).
