Is there any documentation of the production numbers for each assembly plant during the AD period? I have seen calendar year totals for years 1947 through 1955 that included all models and series from all plants. But nothing broken down by plant. And nothing broken down by series.
For example, does anyone know how many 3600 trucks were built in Janesville during 1950? Or how many 4400’s were built in St. Louis during 1952? Etc.

The only thing I've seen for production numbers, were for GMC trucks. That was in an LMC catalog, and is just broken down by year and 1/2 or 3/4 ton for 1947-1950. Then for 1952-53 it's broken down additionally by three GMC plants, Pontiac, Oakland, and St. Louis. It also looks like they're serial number ranges, so you'd have to do some math to get totals. But maybe each line is for a particular (unidentified) plant in the 1947-50 section.

Kevin: Those GMC numbers can be found (in a different format) near the front of the GMC Master Parts Books. Below is from the 1953 edition and shows only 100 series (1/2 ton). The rest are on the next page or two. The GMC plant codes are shown for 1953 and newer. P is Pontiac Michigan, C is Oakland California and S is St. Louis Missouri.

Bill: Anything similar for Chevy trucks? That's what Frank is looking for. I've never seen Chevy production numbers.

I don't have any Chevy documentation.

Frank, From all the things I've read so far in researching Chevy truck info it seems Chevrolet in their infinite wisdom chose to not keep track of (or maybe any original documents have been long ago sent to the great round file in the sky) individual plant production numbers. In a quick search I found 3 Chevrolet Truck overall calendar year production report copies posted in our own tcederman's website* Documents page. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there are links to copies of the 1950, 1952 and 1953 Chevy Truck factory production counts (all plants) by model number.

I do have a hard copy of the 1987 "Standard Catalog of American Light Duty Trucks - Pickups, Panels, Vans - All Models 1896-1986" that was edited by John A. Gunnel that lists overall total truck calendar year production/registration numbers. Those numbers however also include the numbers for Chevrolet Sedan Delivery models and don't include truck numbers for anything larger than a 1 Ton, so don't accurately reflect total truck productions for each year.

Guess nobody thought it important enough to keep track of that info.

I believe the late David Hayward and Ken Kaufmann contributed most of the data to make that spread sheet many years ago (I'm not sure who actually authored the spread sheet, I think I first saw it on Chevy Talk). I shared my 1935/36 production data with David decades ago...
