So this weekend I took the steering column apart again, shortened the shaft so the gap will be gone from the wheel to the column. Got the plastic cam in place and working. Had to grind the end of the blinker shadt to fit the new mounting slot. Took for ever but I got the horn working. I had crud on the brass button preventing a decent contact.

Here is my question. I have rear blinkers, but no front. Are the front lights supposed to blink? If so I assume I start with the flasher?

The front does flash, but those filaments go through a different contact in the steering column connector.

Check contact "L" for power with the key on.

Also check continuity between it and H/J when the turn signal is on.

Not happening today but I will start there. I have a new digital cluster and I am positive I have good connections to what they told me to put factory wires to.

I did notice I don't have dash turn signals with blinker activated and rear blinking. I am betting this is the same trouble.

Almost certainly. The dash indicators are tied to the front bulbs so that they only flash with the turn signals, not with the brake lights.

Some additional questions:

Do the brake lights work? Both with and without the turn signal on?

Do you have a hazard light switch on this column?

Are your front bulbs LED or incandescent?

When you say the front doesn't flash, do they come on and stay on? Or not come on at all?

And some comments:
Both the front and the rear lights use the same flasher (a) for turn signals and the same flasher (b) for hazards, so if some of the lights are flashing correctly the flasher itself is almost certainly good.

You can test to wiring from the column connector to the front turn signals by verifying that you have power to Terminal L, then jumping terminal L to H/J and seeing if the appropriate light comes on. If it does, the problem is in your column. If not, you have a problem between either that connector and the bulb(s) or the bulb(s) and ground.

If the dash lights are not coming on, that makes me suspect the switch or wiring in the column.

Evening,

I have no hazards option. Front turn does nothing. Completely out.
Didn't think to see if rear work with brake on, but brake work with and without marker lights.
Front lights are 1157 bulbs. Non led. Markers work so i.am assuming ground is good.
I can hear flasher clicking loudly. I only have one with no hazard option.
Wiring in column is in excellent shape and slides easily with the plastic doo dab I the column.

Thinking about this more sitting in the AC I am wondering if the contacts in column are gunked up. The horn button was badly which was causing most of my troubles.

Hate having to get the dang wheel off again of that's the case.

If I have some time this week in the evening I will check some of the wiring..

Based on the info provided so far, dirty contacts in the column switch would be my top suspect as well. When I was going through this with my 58 last month I had one front light (left) intermittently and the right never worked.

I was able to use electical contact cleaner with the small straw to spray the switch down and just cycled it back and forth a bunch of times while occasionally spraying some more cleaner in.

That cleaned it up to where it works consistently without having to pull the wheel again and clean it by hand.

Might be worth trying.

Are the front and rear blinkers on different fuses?

No. Both the front and rear bulbs get power from terminal L when flashing turn.

The rear gets power from terminal P when the brake lights are on.

If the left turn signal is on, you should see continuity between P and N (right brake light) and continuity between L, H, and M (left turn signal).

Have you verified the ground on your front turn signal housings?

Haven't had a chance to dig into this yet. I tidy'd up all the rear wiring up to firewall this weekend. I took it for a drive yesterday and noticed all of a sudden the left front began blinking occasionally. If I hold the blinker down it blinks all the time, but as soon as I release, it moves up a little and the front quits. right side is nothing no matter what I do.

So I am certain this is a cleaning thing in the column now.

One last question. Is there any adjustment for the blinker level to remain in hte right or left position? Especially the right position. It stays if not moving. If moving it drops immediately.

On my F**d, there was some play in where I installed the cancel cam and that affected where "zero" was for the turn signal stalk. I initially put it in off to one side and had n issue where the stalk would fall down and turn the signal on when I went over bumps.

Maybe there is something similar in yours? I would probably check the FAM/Service Manual.
