Dodge uses a relay to power up both the Ignition coil and fuel pump. Same relay for both, and it probably powers up the PCM as well. Chrysler calls it a ASD relay (Auto shut down). **** also does this, they call it a EEC power relay. GM has the fuel pump on a relay, but not the Igniton coil. Chrysler products have a tendency to get corroded wires inside the PCM and the wires nearby since it is next to the battery. I suggest you unhook battery, remove PCM connector and inspect for corrosion. Do the same for the ASD relay. The lack of a check engine lite or spark indicates to me that ASD relay is not closing. Good luck. If you need more help, let me know.

The auto shut down relay is working, a little 12v across the coil and I got continuity. Gosh I hate computer controllers $400.00 and it has to be the exact one, it would be hard to find a 13 year old one. Yeah I'm cleaning the computer up right now and gonna use a sh!t load of of contact grease when I connect it all back up. I'm also thinking about checking the Hall Effect magnetic pick up under the rotor. I got too hot so I stopped for the day, I hope Mothertrucker doesn't read that he'd probably think only 100! what a wussy. But anyway Curly Bro how I'm doing? Adios, Kip
Let me ask you also how often or have you seen or have you heard of the PCM going south? After Monday if I'm sure it's the PCM what do you think about taking all the computer stuff off and changing the distributer, carb, harness and whatever else. Mopar parts for that easy to get? Gracias, Kip

The relay was working the coil was energizing but there wasn't the main 12v for the fuel pump or coil. I took out the relay and put 12v to the coil and fuel pump and it's running gotto go out and tighten and clean everything up now and road test. We'll see how it does. ASR, Hall effect and crack sensor all checked good BTW. Adios, Kip

I was about to answer your previous post, but I see you got it done. To answer your question about bad controllers, yes, I have seen this all to often on Mopar products, including my 3.9 Dakota ('96).
I once rebuilt a 3.9 carbureted engine, bolted on a TBI intake and distributor. It ran fine, so I imagine you could do the same thing by installing a carb if you want to.

The Auto Shut Down Relay was working but it wasn't getting the main 12v on the big red wire (I still don't know why) but I clamped 12v right off the battery onto the big red wire, left the Auto Shut Down Relay in and everything is working charging, coil, fuel pump, no stalling and no backfire. I'll check the big red wire later but if everything does ok maybe not. Thanks Curly! Adios, Kip
