I am rebuilding the cab of my 63 and trying to get the door to align right to make sure everything fits. I had to remake the lower hinge mounting point on the pillar but it seems like I got it the same as the passenger side. The opening of the door is the same as the original passenger side, but there is a 1/2" gap behind the door, and I am out of room on the adjustment holes. Should I make the holes longer? Bend the hinge somehow? Shim between the door and hinge? Not sure what the best way is to proceed. It may have been this way before i started but i would like a little more even gaps. At least within factory tolerance.

Is your gap on the hinge side or the latch side of the door and is the gap consistent down the length 1/2?

Shims at the hinge are fair game, but in many cases you just move the problem. As many have stated previously, factory gaps depended on which day of the week the truck was assembled, and the like. In many cases, just do the best you can. Pictures are good if more specific suggestions needed.

This is where im at. When i tack the rocker in place, all that looks good. Just trying to make sure my door will look good before i do my final welding. Looks like everything wants to be a hair back and my bottom just wants to be a little farther.
