I'm looking at it with the front clip off and it looks like I can weld some mounts easy enough to the frame rail but, I'm not real sure I want to weld on the axle. Maybe make a bracket to clamp around it instead.
The '66 C60 really bounces around the ranch. They are the knee action type. I always assumed that they were a factory option, but don't know for sure.

one would go over/under axle with the u-bolts
the top would look like angle iron bolted to the frame.
wouldn't have to da any welding that way
