Chevrolet always painted the engines after final assembly, so unless it had special aluminum valve covers they were painted at the same time and color as the rest of the engine.
The 1965 230 truck engines were Blue, the cars were Orange.

I think this post and pictures including the cover and 2 pages from a 1965 Owner's Guide show the color choices for the truck engines. Scroll down about 1/3 of the page and look for the posts by their member "60-66".

Just curious: The thread referred to above shows a book cover titled 1963 Chevrolet Truck Owner's Guide. Same thread shows a page from that book referring to a 153 cubic inch 4 cylinder engine. I thought that was a Chevy II only engine, which was later used by Mercruiser. What '63 truck would it have been used in?
'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12 '52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.
