Who makes the best complete kit for rebuilding a 1 barrel Rochester C carb? Carb is on a 235 engine in 1955 first series Chevy truck. Thanks.

Please contact Jon H at The Carburetor Shop. You can send him a PM here if you wish. His ID is CarbKing and he will know exactly what you need. Call him at (573) 392-7378 (9-12, 1-4 Mon-Tues central time)

He may claim to be a cranky hillbilly but actually he's a gentleman. Feel free to tell him I said hi.

John M just ordered a kit from Jon H and it's on its way. He was very helpful in putting out a bunch of carburetor Tech Tips in the Engine Tech Tips Forum especially this one. HERE IS his profile if you want to PM him.

Jon G - after a week of "Mondays" such as this one, he is grouchy as well as cranky! computer_punch

OP - Rochester did not make a type "C" carburetor, even though a "C" may appear on the castings; it is a type B.

The tag number will be useful in determining the correct rebuilding kit. If the tag, like most of them, is ancient history on your carburetor; look for a stamped number on the cast iron throttle body (lower casting), and raised numbers on the other castings. Sometimes we can identify the pre-1955 type B's from the casting numbers, at least far enough to produce a kit.
