My apologies in advance. I read some posts about this but I sure can't find them now.
The throttle cable linkage seems to interfere with the return of the accelerator linkage. I have to blip the accelerator to get the idle back down. I read a post about resetting the butterfly disc in the carb body. No help. New OE style return spring. No help. A few other members posted about having the same issue. Anyone figure it out? Thanks for your thoughts and remedies!
Next time it sticks, look at the linkage and see if you can tell where or what it is that's causing it to stick. Manually blip the throttle and see what happens when the idle drops.
It shouldn't be too hard to tell when the throttle rod isn't in the home position. It's either rubbing or caught on something or some other portion of the linkage is stuck somewhere. Maybe it's even your gas pedal hanging up on the hole in the floorboard.
My problem was the set screw nut on the manual throttle cable hanging up on the throttle rod.

Send us a couple pics if you can't get it resolved.

I will keep hunting. When the throttle cable inner wire is removed from the linkage, there is no issue. and, FWIW, I have enclosed some pics. One is a little out of focus. Sorry. Hard angle to get to.
If that's true, it sounds like you might be having the same problem I had.
When it sticks, see if the stop nut is sitting up against the shoulder of that bent looking part on the throttle rod.
That's what mine was doing. I installed this washer to prevent it from doing so.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had never tried it without the stop. I had just removed the inner wire completely and all was good. One thing I did notice yesterday was that the 'tail' of the inner wire was very long and slightly bent. It looked as it could actually hit on the manifold and prevent the linkange from returning all the way. (Stupid oversight???) I snipped it off and went for a cruise this morning and all seemed OK. But I hate to assume anything. I will check the cable stop shortly. Thanks guys!
Sounds like you got it back up and running. Good that you snipped off the excessive inner wire.

When you put the stop back on, place it 3/4 to 1" below the throttle lever. It will stay out of the way permanently and won't affect the operation of the hand throttle at all.

Carl, Really like that idea. With the amount of possible travel the throttle cable can give you, I wouldn't mine having to pull it an inch or less before it kicks in. It would sure help in preventing the cable stop from interfering with the throttle lever. And since I'll be installing a new throttle cable in the near future......
