I am trying to help a friend assemble their windshield. Unfortunately, I did not take photos of the parts or this process during the reassembly of my ‘46. It appears they might be missing a piece, but I’m uncertain. I am helping them remotely, as they live several hundred miles away. I searched the bolt for previous posts without finding the info needed.

Could someone post or PM me photos showing the center divider bar parts including the outer stainless steel strip, gaskets, brackets etc? Of particular interest is the SS strip and the nested piece that bolts to the inside the windshield rubber gasket and metal painted strip. Please.

Thank you.

Lee

Lee, I don't have personal first hand pics to share, but have included pics I took of details from a 1942-47 Passenger Car / 1942-46 Truck Shop Manual Windshield instructions (pics 1-2) and from a 1929-46 Chevy Master Parts book showing the lower windshield to dash area details (pic 3) which may provide some help with your friends reassembly. Hope it gives you at least a start to what he needs. wink

Thank you for helping and the info.

The picture needed would show the back side of the stainless steel outer trim. Apparently they are unable to get the screws to securely fasten all the pieces together. I can’t recall if there were some king of nuts or a separate flat strip of metal with threaded holes or some other option?

Lee, Maybe the info and details in this early Pre-War Truck Tech Tip about windshield rubber replacement may be helpful. There is info on how to disassemble/reassemble a 1940 GMC truck windshield that may be similar for the 1941-46 trucks???

This paragraph may have a helpful point:

"First, I removed the windshield connector and top and bottom tee connectors. Next, I removed screws that hold the inner and outer center division bars (the longer screws go on the top and bottom of the center bar) and carefully removed the outer bar with care as to not to destroy the rubber seal that is part of the center bar."

Lee, Another possibly helpful bit of info may be found in this Filling Station ad for their Reproduction Division Bar. If you click on the technical part drawing it show details that may help answer the question.
