trying to see if a fuel diaphragm for a non vacuum fuel pump will fit in a vacuum fuel pump. Cannot find a vacuum fuel pump kit. Not worried about the vacuum side.

Jay R, Can you be more specific about what pump you are trying to repair??? It sounds like you just want to fix the fuel pump side of a combination fuel/vacuum pump like the one pictured below??? Chevs of the 40s sells complete kits like this one for 1937-51 dual pumps. Please provide more details on the pump you have so others can provide better answers on if they both use the same fuel pump components or not.

Jay R, When you get the kit, install it and do your run check, how about coming back and letting folks know how the repair turned out??? Looking forward to hearing all about it, and maybe seeing some pictures too.

JayR, Can you post what specific fuel/vacuum pump unit you have??? You haven't mentioned what truck/engine you are working on. Perhaps your existing pump has some numbers on it that we can see to try and track down some available kits? The pumps and original repair kit numbers in the 1929-57 Chevy Parts and Accessories Catalog are listed by AC model numbers which can be used to identify the corresponding original AC rebuild kit. That info can be the start point for further resource searching.

Jay R, Sorry to see that kit listed above isn't in stock. Found another source Filling Station Part# FS-998D, but that one also turns out to be on a wait list. As Otto mentioned, you could reach out to Then & Now Automotive to see about getting them to do a rebuild.
As an alternative, there is a Carter replacement dual pump M2430 that is listed to fit your need. These are brand new pumps and I found them listed at these two sites:
Both sites say these pumps are available to order and prices seem pretty reasonable. Not a lot more than the rebuild kits that aren't available. Good luck!

I have bought and installed a M2430 and I believe it is a Chinese knock off. The fuel pressure was way too high, nearly 10 PSI and it didn't last. This was my third attempt so I gave up and went electric. You could install the mechanical pump as a dummy if you want an original look. My electric lives on the frame back by the gas tank out of sight.

That;s cool. What company did you order t from? Let us know how the rebuild goes and how well it works after instrallation.

Jay, Thanks for coming back and updating. On the difference in the vacuum side parts, did they not fit? Did the kit come with instructions? I have one waiting in the wings to rebuild and am interested to know more details. Thanks!

The only thing that's "Carter" about those new pumps is the name on the box. They're the same offshore made junk that everybody else is selling. If it's not 40+ years old, it's not a real "Carter" part. Jerry

Jerry, I wasn't suggesting those pumps were anything else. It was just a potential solution to his pump issue that from yours and others feedback isn't really worth the scrap their made out of. Moving on...
