My trucks wiper motor shaft has broken for the second time in about 5 years. I'm going to send it to Ficken for repair again. My truck is a 1950 3100 but i have been using the arms and blades for 54-59 trucks. Could the added spring pressure be part of the cause?

Are you adjusting them to park a little too close to the trim? If you blades are smacking the windshield molding when operation that will do it. Sometimes the motor parks the blades just right, but when operating they over travel just a little too far causing them to hit the trim.

That's the reversing mechanism. I don't think that the blades smacking the windshield trim would cause that. Fiken should be able to fix that. No idea why it would break there, unless maybe it was assembled incorrectly.
