I got this carb off of one of the Chevy 250’s I acquired for parts. Can anybody tell me anything about it other than is it a carburetor? Is it a good carburetor run on a 250 and if so, are there rebuild kits or somebody I can send it to do you have them rebuild it for me?᠁᠁ Joe

Joe, Your carburetor question will probably get the best answers in the Engine Shop so it has been moved there for further discussion and help. Am sure fellow Bolters will be along soon to offer some help! wink

A wide angle view would help. Original equipment Holley carbs are usually found on Ford products. Is it a one, two , or four barrel type? I'm fond ot the sales pitch that was popular back in the 1950s- - - -"The ABCs of carburetion are- - - -Always Buy Carter!"
LOL!

Some of the 55.2-59 GMC trucks with 248, 270 or 302 engines used Holley two barrel carbs.

'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12
'52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.

I've got three 302 GMC military 2 barrel carbs on the way to my stash- - - -the ones with the integral governor and 90 degree air horn for the remote air cleaner. I'm hoping Carb King can come up with rebuilding kits for them.

The Holley model 1940 is a 1-barrel carburetor. The carb number is by the linkage 7647 (R-7647). Mike’s Carburetor Parts has a rebuild kit K4338 for it.
It was a replacement carb for the Chevy 230 and 250.

DON'T overtighten the air cleaner!

Jon

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air
The most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify.
