I am replacing the wire harness on my 1953 3100 and I am looking for suggestions on what type of wire loom to use. This is the first time I will be doing a wire harness. Suspect most will say it is a personal preference based on the appearance I am hoping to achieve. What I am looking for is something that is not extremely time consuming to use and offers protection for the wires.

It comes in a variety of diameters. I find that 3/8 and 1/2 cover pretty much all of my use cases.

depending on location temperature ratings and can it withstand oil and other fluids is what to look for depending on the state of you truck of course. as in is she a leaky soul or pristine as can be.

otherwise pick your flavor. some of the cheap stuff will not last long or if exposed to sunlight (think truck bed with no wood as its on the project list) will degrade fast.

I restored my wiring harness on my '51, adding turn signal wires heading to the parking lights. I used some non-adhesive vinyl tape that I got from Summit Racing Link to re-wrap it so it looks very similar to the original harness. It takes 2 people to put it on, but not that hard. I've also used the split loom that Fibonachu linked to, as well as woven plastic (think chinese finger trap stuff). link

I used Summit Racing woven fabric throughout my tuck. Happy with the final product.

For taping the harness, I like this stuff:

Tesa Tape

Note that it is not electrical tape, so don't wrap bare wire with it.

Thank you all for your insight and suggestions. I will use one of the products suggested and stop trying to overthink this task.

The truck is not a leaky soul, at least it better not be after I install the new engine.
