I have been negligent! Please review with me where the lube cups are for the 3 general maintenance items listed at the top of p. 70 in the 1948 Operator's Manual. Any other tips/advise related to the general maintenance of these items is appreciated. Thank you.
Not sure on starter (I have a 1950 3100) no oil caps on it. I think mine is the Aluminum end. The distributor has a grease cap. Twist It once a year when you change the oil. On generator their should be a front and a rear oil cap. Flip it up put two drops of oil in it . If the bearings were replaced (like mine) they are Sealed bearings and the oil cups don't work to oil them. In the picture my generator is missing the rear oil cup. Only pictures I can find right now. Todd
Most generators have been rebuilt numerous times, and have probably gotten sealed bearings with permanent lubrication in the process. The original oil cups got a drop or two of 30 weight motor oil at every oil change. Chances are the oil cups on your generator are just there for decoration these days, but a tiny drop of motor oil a couple of times a year can't hurt. Jerry
