After we pulled out the Volkswagen seats I noticed this object. It is just inside the passenger's side door below the fuel tank filler tubing.

It's the little vent/breather for the atmosphere side of the hydrovac diaphragm. How about Quasimodo!

Thanks. Makes perfect sense to me. I didn't notice one on the '51, but I don't have the seat out of it yet, either.

If that is working properly you should hear air going in and out of it. I had a guy come by the shop complaining of a hard brake pedal, what I found was the complete sleeve of a nylon wind breaker sucked down the tube, the cannister was MIA. Replaced the cannister and gave him his jacket back and all was good.
