I am looking for recommendations for what I could use to protect the paint in key wear areas. Specific example is the guide for the tailgate. The tab that sticks out is a rub/wear point when opening and closing the tailgate. Has anyone found a protect film that is adhesive on one site that could be applied to prevent the two metal pieces from rubbing together and damaging the paint? I am sure there are other possible wear points where something like that would be useful.
I've seen clear stick-on stuff on the hood front of various modern vehicles that MIGHT work, but have no idea if it's flexible enough to wrap around that tailgate tab. Maybe something from these guys (randomly found from a web search) might work.
