Donf, That's an interesting concept. I would be just a tad concerned about the longevity of that if it will be used for an extended period. I personally built one from the plans in the Tech Tip mentioned by Peggy above and can vouch for it's strength and durability.
Since this topic is more related to something fitting into the Tool Chest forum, I've moved it there. Thanks for sharing your idea!

Tech Tip dolly is a great design. In fact, I stole measurements from it. Key words here are "cheap and easy". I offer it as an alternative to the tech Tip Dolly.

Harbor Freight Moving dollies are my go-to for caster wheels and firewood. Buying one of those is cheaper than buying 4 identical casters at HF. My engine dolly has HF casters on it, but it's made of steel - well, because I have a welder or two.

I just bought one of those dollies earlier today. I also bought two extra caster wheels to put in the middle of the dolly to dramatically increase its load carrying capacity. Once I build a stronger platform from some 2 X 12s, my new Sunnen hone (close to 1000 pounds) will be able to be rolled around the shop floor and stored in a corner when not in use. Jerry
