Or were there optional wheels. Come to think of it, searching for 1KR doesn't produce any hits. Its a 1950 1 ton dump truck.

One of the reasons I am considering the purchase is that my 1951 Chevy 4400 needs seven new rims. Whats the bolt circle and offset on the 8 lug rims? (Sorry, I'm lazy.)

Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,877 | a 1 ton AD will have 8 lugs. as far as wheel size, If Single wheel then 17" is the usual size, and if dual then 18 is the normal.
For replacement wheels for a 4400 you should look at an AD 1.5 or 2 ton. These will be lock ring type 20" if stock. Be sure to check the center hole diameter before you buy. The earlier wheels have 4.75" and later have 5.25". I am guessing you have the 4.75"?

I've even considered Budd style wheels, but it looks like I'm still looking at $200 per wheel for the hub mount type, that would still have to be converted.
Frankly, the wheel issue, combined with my lack of money, has soured me a little on the 4400.

Sounds like the goal is relatively inexpensive easy to find single piece wheels and tubeless tires?
If 1 ton then the answer is simple, easy, and relatively cheap. Eight lug dual 19.5" wheels from a bread truck and 8R19.5 tires.
If 1.5 ton then it is not as easy. Ten lug 19.5" wheels from a slightly larger bread truck will work, although check the center hole diameter, as a set of simple spacers may be needed, the new wheels have a 5.25" hole... These wheels fit the 8R19.5 tries also, but they are several inches shorter than the original tires. I think they look to small on a 1.5 or 2 ton. The other, in my opinion, most desirable, option is a set of 10 lug 22.5" wheels from a 56 Chevy 1.5 ton. Same deal with the 5.25" center hole. They are not real easy to find, although prices are generally fair if you do find some. Many tire choices are available, and 9R22.5 is probably a good one, comparable to 8.25X20.
Any more clear?

I don't know exactly what it is, but it is supposed to be a 1 ton, it has duallies with 18" rims, a five window cab from a 1952 3/4 ton and a 1954 235 engine. It is noticeably smaller than the '51 4400, but the frame looks like it might be a factory 1 ton model.
For that one, the 19.5s would be perfect, especially since it runs, kind of, and the dump works, except all the levers are broken off. In other words, I plan on having it on the road by late tomorrow. Very late.
For the '51 4400 I guess I just need to keep looking. Naturally, I told my wife that I'd sell the '51 to make room for the other one, but we all know how guys lie about trucks.
Would the '56 1.5 ton tires be tubeless?

Yes, they may have had tubes, but they can be run tubeless with new tubeless tires. I have a set of 6 8X22.5 tires that would be great for an around the county work truck, great tread. I don't need them as I will have new radials on my truck when I get that far. I think I have an add in the parts for sale section for them.
