so im about 99% done with my 48 loadmaster, i've done the breaks, body, exhaust, dump....but the last thing is probably very simple to someone that has experience and i just cant figure it out

my truck starts and runs great, it has a 12 volt bat, 12 starter (great find) and a new 12 volt GM alternator, i just cant get the batt to charge or the truck to run off the alternator, there were 2 wires attached to the old generator that i hooked up to almost identical locations on the alternator, it'll run for about 15-20 mins until it sucks the life from the battery....any ideas's

ps i drove it around the block yesterday.....man, i know you guys know what i felt like, hard to put into words

There is no system that will allow you to remove a generator, replace it with any kind of alternator and hook the same wires back up. The components are different, and the wiring arrangement is different. Your battery won't charge because the charging system components aren't compatible and will not function together.

It isn't unlikely that you have ruined the alternator. The electrical forum has lots of info on swapping to a alternator. Use the search function in that forum using appropriate terms and see what info you can glean, then come back and ask questions. Good luck!

i looked all around and couldnt find a thing, although i did find a wiring diagram which is pretty sweet, ill try re-posting this over in the elec forum, thanks
