New to the forum here. Have run across some old fiberglass bedsides from Cameo's. Can't get close enough to them to fully inspect them just yet but was wondering if there was any value to them or does everyone just prefer the repops? These are NOT NOS parts, looks like they are take offs from years ago.
I believe that any original parts for that era trucks would be gold. Condition is everything, however. Considering that just over 10,000 Cameo's and far less of the GMC version were produced, they are certainly rare parts. I have not had any occasion to work with any aftermarket fiberglass components but many of the aftermarket metal body components are far less than stellar. Fred

Back in the 1970s when I co-owned a body shop, my partner had a set of Cameo bed sides. Even back then, they were scarce and valuable. What's even more pricey are the tail light assemblies- - - -they resemble 54 passenger car lights, but they're not an exact clone. Look closely for spider web cracks or other structural defects- - - -as I remember, they were pretty flimsy and prone to cracks, like the Corvette bodies from the same era. Jerry

Since your post is directly related specifically to "Truck Beds", I think it better belongs in our Making a Stovebolt Bed forum, so it has been moved there. Others that have experience with Cameo bed sides will surely chime in with more info and tips on things to look for concerning these rare pieces.

Finally got some stuff moved enough to get a good look at the Cameo bedsides. Five complete sets but I don’t think a single one is any good. Have been repaired before and coming apart again or in need of multiple repairs.
Those look like they're very fixable- - - - -I'd try an ad in Hemmings' Motor News- - - -chances are you'll start a bidding war between a few collectors! Jerry
