I do have a 56 model axle that has the bend-ix brake with good king pins and tie rod ends that I could cut down and make fit, or would the parts off this axle work on the older axle. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy ttodd, I did some research, it looks like the spindles {steering knuckles] definately changed for the 55B model, so I don't think your 56 stuff could be used without redrilling to the old spindle bolt pattern, you will probably have to make up some custom size spacers to make your 56 stuff work also. I would just look for some 53-55A backing plates and spindles. You never said if your 56 axle was a one ton axle or not. Re-drilling backing plates and making spacers is no problem as long as the hubs will interchange. I think I'll get the tape out and do some keen measuring and see what happens. If none of the parts swap out I may cut the 56 axle down to fit and stir up all the you can't do that people. | | |
