Hello I'm in need of replacing my water pump and I was searching for timing chain and gear set and for some reason the web has zero results for this. What is the part number for the correct timing kit for my engine?
almost every single one I've ever seen had a 366 in it. I know that the small block 350 was offered but have seen very few. Lots of 292s and 366s. I would imagine you could look up a C10,20,30 with a 350 timing chain and that parts would be identical, also see if C60 shows up with an option they seemed to be more popular than the 50's. Maybe that route might turn up some more results. Its hit of miss on the medium duty trucks finding parts. Got to be creative.
Well it's the original engine for it. It's got the stamp in the glove box thats says 350 engine. Now I have swapped in a 2 speed rear as I had a h150 single speed 7.20 ratio I belive and it's top speed was like 45mph. Couldn't handle it. Found a t-170 2 speed rear with 6.50/8.25 or so, so I have lower low range and higher high range so I can now pull loads easier and drive 55mph on the highway. But yeah I'll check the c60, I wasn't sure if the medium duty engines were any different but I'll check the c10-30s if I fail on the c60. I wouldn't think they would be but you never know stuff was changing alot at that time. Or I guess they just had alot of different options back then like you said with the straight 6 and the 366 bb. Transmissions as well I have the sm465 4 speed. But I have seen the c60s with 366 and5 speed trans. I'd like to find a 5 speed with a .75 overdrive gear. Give me some speed and mpg savings at a lower rpm instead of 3k rpm at 55-60mph.
The medium duty truck engine probably has a steel cam gear as opposed to the plastic covered gear in car engine. I would check Cloyes manufacturing, Get a double row roller chain and matching gear set. No rocket science in that engine. I checked the Cloyes site, P/N C-3023K should do.

I think you can even get them at Sears, Montgomery Wards, K-Mart, S.S. Kresge, Woolworths, Cunningham Drugs, Ben Franklins five and dime. Seriously though, they have to be the most common part available.

Stay away from the "double roller" setup unless you put a "thrust button" under the timing cover to prevent ignition timing variations from the cam moving forward and back from chain flex. Jerry
