I have fiberglass fenders. Does anyone know where I can find some steel replacements?

Virtually all the usual suppliers have them. Here are three from catalogs I have on hand.

LMC Truck for $419 each
Classic Industries $319 each
NPD $445 each

Hey Otto! Yeah I really haven't had much luck even finding "usual suppliers". So thank you for that.! I'll look at those sites.

Also look at Mar-K, Jim Carter, and Classic Chevrolet Trucks (different company than Classic Industries)

Are those for 5700s? Cause I'm still having difficulty lining one up. Or will a 3600 fit?

Otto, He has an LCF - Low Cab Forward 5700 'Big Bolt" 2-Ton truck. The LCF fenders are nothing like the pick up fenders and are not being reproduced by any known vendors.

Steve, You will have to scour Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, eBay or other sales sites to see if you can find some original steel front fenders. Hard to tell from your picture in your Welcome Center post, but those fenders don't look like fiberglass IMHO. Maybe take and post some close ups???

Try Classic Truck Rescue in Oregon, LCF sheet metal is real scarce.

Steve89, do you think that those fenders are 100% fiberglass, I wonder if someone "glassed" the inside of the steel fenders to cover Swiss cheese or for preventative measures? Those style fenders were a three year run, I have doubts that an aftermarket item was available, would be no profit in them.

No I don't think so because there is f.g. showing through to the out side and theres basically no rigidity to either fender. Yeah I wonder if maybe a small body shop back in the 70s or 80s took it on and built them..? I'm not sure.

Wow!, that is different for sure. I know that fiberglass fenders were available for the '73 and up square body trucks but had no idea that someone would have made them for a '50's LCF. Does your truck have a 2 speed rear axle? you might check that out as mine was originally a single speed with 7.20:1 gears. I put in a 2 speed diff. and with 10R-22.5 drive tires it will 63-65 mph.

Yes it has a two speed rear.

Have you used a magnet all over the fenders? I'd be inclined to think that someone fiberglassed over steel ones. It's a lot of work to make one-off fiberglass fenders for an oddball truck.

If they are all glass, I think they were after market repair items from the 1970s or so.

No I didn't magnet them. I will when I get home. They are very floppy though. Yeah that's my thought. Everyone keeps telling me this truck is quite rare and I'm inclined to believe them though that just makes finding replacement fenders all the more difficult. 😒 It was really a gut punch when I saw the fiberglass. Here I was thinking i had found a near perfect body.. nope. There's some old junk yards round my area that might have some ill call when I have $$$.

Steve, When you decide to pursue some steel fenders for your truck, don't forget you can post an ad in Truck Parts Wanted. Even if fellow Bolters may not have what you seek, they will often be able to help with leads to possible sources. It can ease your efforts at finding some fenders.

Thank you I posted in TP wanted. We'll see if there are any bites. I'll message the people in Oregon and see what they have. One of my local junk yard guys said he knows someone in Kansas who has quite a few old trucks. I'll call him back in a day or two.

In your world there will be no cart before the horse. you are best just getting as many parts as you can as 5700 parts are NOT dime a dozen. So yea you know you want fenders so put it out there. once you get it cleaned out.
On a nice sunshine day. Get a lawn chair a 6 pack of your favorite. then just sit there stare at it and let it speak to you as to what it wants to be. write it all down. if nothing comes to mind the beer speaking will help take a few laps around it.
then plan your build and start your search accordingly. Then tear it down and find out what is missing or is going to be a real pain in your build and decide the routes. Since you know you will need to source some items in the long run on something that may take a while it keeps you ahead of the game. Also in your situation not having the long term game plan may be costly. having to go back and forth on a few things. my rambling for the day is done. enjoy the ride.

You're right hcb3200 I've got to start looking as soon as I know I'll need it. Or want it I do get those mixed up sometimes.. haha. But I really didn't know what I was buying. I just thought it was a cool old truck I didn't realize it was so rare. I just realized I know a guy who has a 60s chevy big truck maybe 2.. I wonder if he's got something I need..?
