1947.2 through 1955.1. Let's start a list of parts not available from the reproduction market. Let's try to keep it to original style parts. Should be a relatively short list. I'll start. Frame.

52Cark, I think the list may be a lot longer than you hinted at. Especially considering 1 ton and larger trucks. Think brake drums and related brake system components just for starters.
Will have to see how this list goes to see if it can prove to be beneficial or not.

I purchased new Huck brake wheel cylinders and shoes from Rock Auto. Jim Carter sells the drums and I think the springs.

Carl -- I think your list *is* very short .... But only if you keep it to 3100's. For 3600 and up, the list gets ... significant.
My additions (that I am somewhat certain of)
1-ton PBrake cables 1-Ton rear wire harness (to the taillight) -- All available wire harnesses are for 1/2-tons. Granted, they are identical, except for the harness to the rear (Um, it's longer for the 3600 and even longerer for the 1-ton) 1-ton bumpers and brackets 4400 and up grilles (Yes, Virginia, they're different from the little trucks.) Spare tire carrier pieces for the earlier and larger AD's Non torque-tube driveshaft carrier bearings (the big rubber piece) for 3/4 and up.

The 1 ton park brake cable is reproduced Jim Carter truck parts: MEB491 And I vaguely recall the 53 one someplace else unless that’s the one year you can’t get?
all the brake parts except the drums are reproduced for all years of the 1 ton 47-54 The cylinders and pads and all the hardware is pretty much all at just Napa if you don’t want to shop around I just rebuilt my brakes on both a 53 and a 50 one tons last summer and my drums fortunately seem to be new because the previous owner was a heavy duty mechanic and back in about 1990s he was able to source new drums through his network and I was able to just swing by Napa for new pads and the wheel cylinders and hoses.
Edit: if you are shopping for the backing plates and some of the connecting linkages in the brake dept. then yeah non wearing bits are likely not reproduced and used is your only option for a one ton and up
The filler panel between the front bumper and grille for specifically 1954 gmc is not reproduced It is unique to that year and has extra clearance on the sides for the new chrome below the headlights -s

Man this thread is going to get unwieldy pretty soon, with some saying stuff is not reproduced, and others pointing out sources for various items. A consolidated list would sure be nice, but would take some work to glean that out of all the responses.
But in the interest of information, please carry on.
I'll add brake and clutch pedal shaft/bracket. But I guess that would fall into the frame category, even though it's a bolt-on.

I had '47.2 through '55.1 pickup trucks in mind when I started this thread. I don't mind it straying away from that. Some responders have brought up some sources for some of the parts thought to be unavailable. That is a big plus!

Neither 47 or 48 GMC front bumpers are reproduced. The front grill is not available either. The correct electric temperature sending unit is NLA. The intermediate shaft for the GMC 1/2T long bed is made from mostly obsolete parts.

Twin Jimmys, I know you have a ton of experience and knowledge on the GMC trucks. Is the link for bumpers provided by Ron above in error when applied to the 1947-48 GMCs? My guess is yes, that those are just generic reproductions that someone figures will work in place of the originals. Yes/No/Maybe So???

Were '47/'48 GMC bumpers different from the later ones? Maybe the LMC ones are all the later version but will fit on '47/'48?

The link takes you to generic bumpers that will fit both Chevy and GMC. In 47/48 GMC used a heavier duty bumper with rounded edges on the top and bottom. Almost like a reinforcing edge for strength. Chevy was not a flat bumper as it had a crown from top to bottom and certainly a curve left to right. GMC had the same crown and curve but added a lip on the top and bottom. Both the 47 and 48 share the same part number and are identical in every way but one. The 47 bumper had 4 extra holes punched in it at the outermost ends. The holes were plugged with bumper bolts that bolted to nothing. Just for looks I guess. I have attached pics of both types. I have not seen a 47 style bumper on an original 48. Must have been a bean counter that pointed out the savings on parts and labor if they put 4 less bolts on that served no purpose.

BTW, watch out for the replacement lug nuts from China. Inferior materials. I've stripped a couple of them trying to tighten down. Don't know if you can get repro American made.
Did you clean up the pliers? Can you still use them?

Elmo - Which LMC tank are you referring to please? For the reproduction between the frame rail tanks for AD series trucks for the 1947-48 pickups and 1947-55.1 Suburbans and Panel trucks, the ads I've seen all (except LMC) indicate they are for 1/2 ton trucks only.

The height of the 3/4 ton frame rail is less than the height of the 1/2 ton frame rail. The tank mounts fit into the frame rail. I tried to mount a 1/2 ton tank to my 3/4 ton truck. Don't fit.
