Can someone please help me understand how the rod is attached from the dashboard switch to the vacuum motor. I have a 49 Chevy 3800. It came to me with vacuum wiper motor, transmission rods and linkage all missing. I’ve scoured most all the websites for pictures but to no avail. I have all the parts now but am not sure how the rod from switch to motor is connected, which end of the rod goes where. What is used to hold it in place, etc. thanks much for any and all help, and any pictures of this setup would be appreciated.

Check out this linked 1948 Chevrolet Cab filmstrip that contains the below picture of your switch and control rod setup. There are no clips that hold the rod in place, just some small rubber grommets in the switch arm hole and control arm hole on the wiper motor. The bends in the rod ends through those grommets are supposed to keep it in place.

Coincidentally I had to reconnect my control rod today after knocking those mud dauber nests off!
