I just bought a 1954 235 to replace my 216 Babbitt rod and looking at the bearing half’s in the rod cap and the main cap. I am assuming these are standard bearing. The number on the main cap is MB 1532 M and the rod cap bearing number is 1950 SB . I know I will have to measure everything to get the right size .

The 1950SB is a Federal Mogul bearing, and since it does not have a suffix such as -10, -20, -30, etc. It's probably a standard diameter. The connecting rod journals should measure somewhere around 2.312". The main bearing number doesn't match anything in my F-M shop specifications catalog, but since it also does not have a suffix, it's probably also a "standard" size. The mains get bigger from front to back, so you'll need to measure all the main journals on the crankshaft. I can PM you crankshaft journal specifications and tolerances if you need them. Use a micrometer, NOT a dial caliper, to measure a crankshaft accurately.

OK, can do. Federal Mogul and Sealed Power use the same numbering system, I believe. If you Google the Clevite numbers you can probably find interchange information to other brands like NAPA, Vandervell, and several others. The Federal Mogul shop specifications catalog #115 can usually be found on Ebay for reasonable prices, and it's very valuable to an engine builder who is searching for parts, even obsolete ones like stovebolts.

That particular style of main bearing is as scarce as a chicken with lips, and usually VERY expensive if you can find them at all. There is a way to modify the block to accept the later type 1956-63 main bearings with a different method of securing them into place, however.
