This gadget doesn’t look like much , but darn it! it’s hard to find. The heater control for ‘54-‘55s.1 is specific to that model year+ , from what I’m told. I failed to source a new part. Ficken found one , after an extensive search.
Really cool the way the turning of the (repop) knob actuates the cable; there must be some sort of itty bitty differential in there.

Rack and pinion, ultra modern technology! Funny that they used the same knob and cable style for all of the '57's regardless of vacuum or electric wipers.
