I have 69 chevy c10 with a 250 6 cyl and a single barrel carb. My problem is the choke pull off. I replace the little diaphragm but it doesn't seem to last. It works fine for a few drives and then acts like the choke is stuck. I replaced it and its good for a short while. It does pull it off eventually. Any ideas?

The choke "pull-off" vacuum diaphragm is not supposed to open the choke completely, it is supposed to pull the choke plate open a small amount once the engine starts. The choke thermostat has the job of slowly opening the choke plate to a wide-open position based on the thermostat temperature. I would research and test the choke thermostat. Is the diaphragm being damaged by gasoline or backfiring?

Are you using original equipment parts, or somebody's offshore made junk? Some of the latter are bad "new in the box".

I try not buy "made in ____" parts. Do you recommend a source for original parts? Does gm still make these parts?

GM doesn't make anything. Restore the old parts if possible or look for NOS stuff.

Ebay- - - - -"new old stock" from closed down dealerships, warehouses, etc. There are thousands of them there. You don't necessarily have to use the exact part- - - -a choke unloader is pretty generic, and lots of them will work with a little tweaking of the mounting hardware. "NORS" (new old replacement stock) would be another option- - - -parts made by non-GM manufacturers from the same time frame would also be a good choice.
