Hello, new here on the forum, looks like a lot to go through. Currently starting to gather some parts so I can start this project soon, I will have quite a few questions on it and looking forward to getting what I need from the group here at Stovebolt!

First, welcome to the ‘bolt! We would love it, if you could tell us a bit about your truck, it’s history, your goals and what if any, you have already accomplished on restoration.

And of course we ‘Bolters love pictures, so please post some. Instructions on how to post images are on the bottom of the left margin on this page.

Again, Welcome to the bolt!

Welcome to the site. Do you have a Canadian made truck? Yes, we need more info and pics, as mentioned. Good luck with it and ask questions if you need help.

Hello,

This was my Great Grandfathers truck that he used as his main vehicle for many years. He purchased it when it was only around a year old. Later on in the trucks life, the original box was removed and they made a wooden box to haul grain on the farm. Unfortunately, over the years, the original box was damaged beyond repair and I cannot use it.

I do not remember the truck in operation but was told it was parked for good around the time I made my appearance on the planet in '72. The original engine had went out and they installed, what I'm told, is a 1950's 235 out of a car that Grandpa bought for the engine.

I know the truck needs a lot of attention, but one of my main interests and hobbies is restoring farm tractors & trucks. I have restored an older case tractor, a large 80's Massey tractor and currently nearing completion of a restoration on a 1984 square body truck.

I have looked into all the parts and should be able to gather what I need. I have a couple questions on it though, This is a 1 Ton -- are the front fenders the same as a 1/2 ton. On the picture of the rear frame, it looks like it was extended or is this the way they were built? The hitch tube is added by the looks of it. Also from what I can find, this truck would have come new with the 228 engine?

I have attached some pictures of my truck.

Thanks.

FarNorth, glad to see you got this nice bunch of images added! The Stovebolt Mass will be pleased. Looks like a nice project and that's impressive with the family history and the fact that your passion is for farm trucks and tractors. You'll find plenty of like minded folks around here.

You might want to post your questions about the truck in Tons o' Fun area. You may be parkng over there for a bit. These folks can be of great help. Dusty53 (Moderator for TOF) has already welcomed you here.

Glad you're here and we hope to help.

Slightly newer Canadian GMC trucks would have come with a Chevy engine. I don't know about '46 and earlier models. The picture of your label shows yours to be a Canadian truck, so likely would be Chevy powered.

'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12
'52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.
