I have a 1955 1st series 6100 2 ton truck and am in need of some replacement kingpins. Does anybody know what the replacement number is? The spindles have some slip in them and 1 is missing the top cap, so I need the rebuild kit. I’ve done a search and googled and can’t find the factory replacement kit number. Thanks for the help

I got a set for my 56 6100 at Rare Parts. Just make sure to verify the spec size in the build manual to what RP has listed on their site

DougH6100, I didn't see any listings for the 6100. Did I miss something in the link?

They don't specifically list anything for the 6100. You will have to measure your pins or look up what size pins your truck should have. Then look at what they offer and match up the size. They list the pins sizes on their website.

After a little research on my end I found that the 56 3700 had the same size as the 6100. Yours may be similar.

This is the Rare Parts kit I used in my '56 6100. At some point in time, someone changed one of the spindles out so the end caps were too small. I just used some frost plugs and ground them to fit. The other side fit perfectly with no problems. Doug H put me onto Rare Parts thumbs_up Remember that the bushings must be reamed to fit the pins. I picked up a nice adjustable reamer on eBay that worked great 👍 Best of luck hope this helps. Mark

I notice Jim Carter doesn't list any specs, and Rare Parts is cheaper. Wonder if anyone has used the Jim Carter king pins? I found parts for my truck at a local shop that had tons of old stock. Unfortunately they aren't around anymore.

Will second a very pleasant experience working with Rare Parts. They had the steering drag link for this '65 C60-and 72 more of them as well, so if you've got a rig like mine I bet that link is loose and they've got your number.

I need to clarify my above statement. One spindle was changed at some point in time I don't know which, so the kingpin caps only fit one side . I assumed it was the side that the caps were too small for as that side had play and the other was just very free moving. ( If that makes sense) ohwell

You can go to the GM Heritage site and find the dimensions for the original build, pin and bushing dimensions are given. Then measure what you have and make a decision on your next move. I was lucky enough to find a set of NOS MOOG pins and bushings, my axle and knuckles were not worn in the bores, the kit brought it all back to zero perceptible slop, along with new tie rod ends, drag link, and adjusting the steering gear, all is well.
