I painted my new manifold red, like the motor & intake. After driving twice I saw it smoking the paint is burning off. I used 500 degree motor paint. Is there a paint that would not burn off?

500F paint is engine paint, not exhaust paint.

The block is water cooled, so it doesn't get nearly as hot as the exhaust. Most people use calyx or stove black for exhaust manifolds. If you want it colored, something like the VHT exhaust paint is your best bet:

Fibonachu, Thanks, wish I’d known sooner. For now it will just have to be burned off.

glennj3 -- That is not high enough temp. for the exhaust manifold. You need some high heat paint rated about 1000 to 1200 degrees.

On vehicles that where I've painted the exhaust manifolds, Bill Hirsch Manifold paint has served me well...it stays looking good for years and can be brushed on!
