Does the bolt that holds the lid on the cannister filter require a gasket/seal/o-ring? Something similar to the oil pan drain plug? Or does the bolt itself provide enough of a seal? I do realize that the lid itself has a seal. Really just wondering about the bolt. Thanks in advance!
I think it needs a seal. I found one for it at the parts store - from their assortment of oil pan gaskets. I haven't installed it yet, but I'd almost guarantee it would leak without a gasket of some sort.

The bolt will only leak if someone is too timid to tighten it sufficiently. Those people might benefit from using a copper crush washer under the bolt head. Jerry
