I know there are several different pickup bed companys are the mar k bodys good is there a better 1. also I noticed they sell all kind of extras for them is there any of those i should consider. I wish they primer them im worried about getting it to soon and it rusting.

I bought a Mar-K kit for my '50 in early 2023. I was also concerned about the cross sills, bed strips, etc. not holding up in storage but so far they are doing fine. I did prime/paint the cross sills but have not done anything with the strips or angle brackets other than store them in the long cardboard tube they came in.

I'm with WICruiser, I bought cross sills, bed strips, and a tailgate from Mar-K back in 2019, and kept them in the original packaging. I primered the tailgate and cross sills shortly afterward, but the bed strips were in the tube until Sep '22 when I primered and painted them. No signs of rust even after spending 2 winters in outside storage (unheated trailer.)

Mar-K has a 15% off sale going on right now. I don't think you'll find a better supplier (some of the vendors may even resell Mar-K parts, but I have no way of confirming that.)

i was thinking of ordering bedsides without holes for fenders. I did some measurements today. And just incase the bed would have to be moved back 1 or 2 inches i could still have the fenders in the center of the wheel. The truck is on a modern frame. Any thoughts on that.

That would be a good idea, since you're on a non-original frame. You can drill holes wherever you want for fenders, even in the stock locations. I would ask Mar-K for a template or at least measurements of the stock holes, unless you have original bedsides to go off of. That would be the easiest way to adjust for a different wheelbase. You can't move the front fenders in relation to the cab without a LOT of work. You would have to consider the running board to fender location as well, because I believe the running boards bolt to the rear fenders like they do on AD (47-55) trucks.

The template sounds like a good idea but something tells me they will not have 1. The cab is off right now sitting on a cart. The body shop said they will call when they are ready for it.

They surely have the dimensions for fender bolts, otherwise they couldn't get them in the right place on the bedsides. But you'd have to ask them if they'll share them.

Ordered the truck bed today. As I thought they can’t give me a template or measurements because the lady said its all computerized. They did give me the discount but shipping hurts that was 837.00

It would have been cheaper for you to drive there and pick it up or fly there, rent a cargo van, and drive home!

Yeah, OKC to PA should be less than that. Are they shipping it via air freight? I suppose that included crating the stuff.

I can understand if it was to me in Alaska, but just to PA? Maybe it's something about PA. I bought 5 tires from an outfit in PA and they wanted $3000 to ship them when I checked online. I called and asked "NO, REALLY, how much does it cost to ship a tire to Alaska?" and the response was $600 per tire. I told them I could fly there and bring them back as baggage for less. They were offering free shipping to the "Continental" US (really meaning Contiguous, since Alaska IS on the same continent.) So I had them shipped to a freight forwarder and paid $180 for them to bring them to me in Alaska.

BTW, shipping charges is one reason I drove to Kansas City and OKC to get parts for my truck project. It cost me more than paying shipping, but I got to enjoy the trip, too.

yes they are shipping them freight and no lift gate that costs more

I got the itemized bill for my truck bed yesterday and I noticed that even with that very high shipping price there's no insurance. I still have time to change it because the bed won't be delivered for at least a month, insurance is usually 10 percent which will probably be around 250 more on the shipping which will make shipping cost over 1000 dollars what would you do

I have had items shipped and have not recieved them and the company shipped another .this happened to a abs headliner. I would ask what they do if you don’t receive it who is responsible and also ask how well it is packaged and if others use the insurance .Then you have to decide what is best or how much of a risk you are willing to take.
