so i finally got my 48 1.5 ton dump back to my driveway nestled in between my '71 c-10 and my wife's '62 falcon.....my neighbors are real happy, so back to it.....my old 235 is pretty beat up and worn down, i plan on using my bolt a few times a week for work, and was thinking about swapping a small block into it, i can fab motor mounts and get just about anything to fit, the info thats holding me back is if the bolt pattern will match to the trans (4 speed), any info would be much appreciated....i figure if i have 2 trucks runny idnetical engines...my maintainence and overall vehicle house keepinw would be simplified, plus there's no replacement for displacement...ill get pics of all my crap up soon

Tranny should bolt up just fine..I've got a 292 in my 49 4400 and other than fabricating eng mounts, all else bolted right up..I added a 4spd brownie to give me better road speed with the stock rubber...

All you need is a bell housing with the V8 or later 230, 250, 292 6 cyl bolt pattern at the front and the mounts at the lower sides like your 235s bell housing mounts and the small pilot hole at the rear. Easiest to find in 64 to 67 Chevy/GMC pickups with a four speed SM420 Trans. In 68 they changed to the SM465 that has a larger front bearing support and pilot hole in the bell housing. Then motor mounts and your in.
