My new 1949 Chevy One Ton Dump Truck. Still have it but parked, needs a new motor.

There is a great article about oils for old engines in the July/August 2007 issue of Vintage Truck.

I don't remember the particulars about it,but it's one of a very few oils that has additives that protect the cam lobes etc. from excessive wear. It's like it was designed for our old trucks. BTW-when I was in Reno last time,I found it at AutoZone in gallon jugs,and the price wasn't bad. Here in Elko,I'd check NAPA or Checker for it.
Speed | | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 292 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2007 Posts: 292 | gas engine V-6,I-6, or V-8 should run 20w-50 in the summer heat and 10W-40 in the cold of winter. . . . i use AMSOIL synthetic's in my old stuff i use straight 60 in the sumer and 20w-50 in the winter synthetic run thin. . . .
in standard oil i run 20w-50 summer 10w-40 winter i haven't had a problem yet. . .
now some say it affect's gas milage not so i got a 95 f-150 with 351efi V-8 it get's 13mpg with 10w-30 mobile one still got 13mpg when i put in 20w-50 amsoil. . . but i gained some oil pressure only difference i noticed. . .
