Anyone ever convert a GMC 630 from Dayton to 10 lug, front and rear of course? Contemplating a serious change to revamp my Rig. Obviously I'd need to find something with juice brakes and swap hubs, but sourcing parts may be tough??? Any info will help feed the brainstorm, thx
As your truck definitely falls into the "Big Bolt" category, you may get better replies over in the Big Bolts forum.
I am going to suggest that the Moderator move it over that way to help you get the best possible replies to your question.
Good luck!

I think he's trying to get rid of the Dayton's, the adaptors are for converting from Budd hubs to Dayton rims. These were popular in the 50's, allowing fleet owners to only stock one type of rim in the shop. Spanky has a set of 6-lug on his GMC COE Wrecker.

I think your best bet is finding a donor truck with disc wheels. There was not much interchangeability in hubs in those years. You may be better off changing the entire axles. There weren't many 630s produced and few survived. You might consider later model axles and making them fit.
Me, too. Finding single-piece/tubeless Daytons to fit would probably be a whole lot easier than converting to Budds.
At ATHS shows, it just doesn't look right to have nicely restored antique big trucks rolling on shiney Alcoas ...
