Under the "whatever" category for "interiors" - I finally got the windshield interior lower trim piece installed on my 1954 3604. Yeah, I know it's only 6 screws and not much of challenge, but - I've been walking past it every night for almost a year as it's been sitting on top of my bedroom dresser drawer. It and its 6 chrome plated Phillips head screws. Patiently waiting on its owner to put it in its proper place. So, if you need to install one, or install yours, the only tools you will need are a Phillips head screwdriver. I used a Craftsman, but I suspect a Snap On would work equally as well as would many other brands. Don't over-tighten the screws or you'll warp the bezel. ( what the heck is it's correct nomenclature ? ) I suspect everyone reading this knows how to use a screwdriver, so I'll dispense with further discussion and just show you the results.

Oh, so that's what that piece is for. I have one in my empire of parts.I just didn't know what it went to.
They are very hard to find and they are often missing on the 54 & 55 1st series trucks. Unsure why. The metal "stand-offs" that go on the backside are also very hard to find. I recall seeing someone was working on 3-D printing them.
That piece is required to direct the defrost air to the windshield. ( wonder what the correct name is for it )
So, point being - you could probably sell the one you have for a good return on your investment.

According to the 47-54 Assembly Manual, section 1, sheet 8, it is listed as a “Garnish Moulding” .

Is that just a part for one-piece windshield trucks? ? Mine doesn't have one. It has the two pieces with a cover clip in the center.

Yes, this applies to only 54 and 55 1st series.
