Does anyone have a spare tire carrier that they could measure and give me some dimensions? This is the carrier that is in back and slides in a track. I have the track, but that is all. I have the ability and a shop available to fabricate one. They seem to be very scarce and I would like to have one for my truck. I have a machine shop and my neighbor has a complete fab shop. Between the two of us I’m sure we can fab one up.
lumbersawyer, Your topic has been discussed a number of times in the past. I think you will find most everything you need with the pictures and dimensions provided in this previous discussion of the early AD spare tire carrier. The dimensions aren't exact, but should give you the ballpark info you asked for.
When you do fabricate up a carrier, maybe you would take the time to document the project and share it with fellow Bolters here? A write up with pictures, drawings and dimensions could be the makings of a great Tech Tip that would benefit many early AD Stovebolters.

And if you not hooked on stock. I just got a cable hoist spare tire mechanism like the ones on modern Silverado trucks and welded it to the cross member. In for like 20 bucks and a salvage yard spare tire kit for the pole to reach in and turn it up and down. that way I don't have to muscle the tire in on the carrier and lift it. Or you can use one of those to lift the carrier you build as well.
Chevs of the 40's use to sell a really nice reproduction, which I use on my '50. They have been out of stock for quite some time and hope they will have them again.
Here's a link to a similar carrier which might work:

I used a newer under the bed spare tire carrier it worked good but still have to crawl under to get it out .Also had to grind the end off a bit to allow it to fit it. The bolt with the rectangle washer fits in the existing cross bar. They should still have these at the junk yards for a decent price.
Did you get the info you need? I have one complete except the nut thingy and removed with the cross bars if you need any pictures or measurements. It's off my 53 3100.
I don't have a complete carrier. I was able to buy the main bar, and bolt with lock. I'm not sure 53 is the same? does it look like this? I'm missing the part on the right. Top cross bracket.
The '53 spare tire carrier looks similar to the one the Kevinski posted above. A single bar that runs diagonally at the rear of the frame, and a couple of smaller crossbars above.

I'll bring it in tomorrow and check it out. It's already dark here.
