1950 chevy shortbed 3100, 216 with a 3 on the tree.

The early car version used a torque tube but as I understand it was not compatable with the truck torque tube. Also you would be chasing obsolete components and likely have a serious lack of power with a 216. Lots of work and expense with no gain. Fred

Chevy cars got a cast iron Powerglide in 1950 with a torque tube driveline and a hydraulic lifter 235 engine, but it's somewhat different than the truck rear end. I have a 216 engine and a 1951 Powerglide, plus the rear end from the same car (3.55 gear ratio). PM or call if you're interested. There would be a considerable amount of fabrication involved in adapting it to a truck. Jerry

It was still sluggish. Putting one behind a 216 would be a real dog.
